Compare Wallets

General notes
Not your keys, not your coins: The person owning private keys is the one deciding how the crypto assets associated are spent – if you don’t own this, you’re entrusting your crypto to a third party (ex: an exchange).
Secure your mnemonic phrase: Do not lose your mnemnonic phrase. It is a sequence of 12, 15, 24 or 27 words that is used to generate the private key. Store it safely, and always bear in mind that with this phrase you gain full control over your funds.
Hardware Wallet: All listed options (Yoroi, Daedalus and ADA Lite) support hardware wallet (Nano Ledger S/X or Trezor). Using a hardware wallet is the most secure way of storing your crypto as the private key is never exposed online.
Comparison
Yoroi Desktop or Mobile: Light weight wallet, for normal users.
Yoroi is EMURGO's one-click-install, light wallet for Cardano. With Yoroi, it is not necessary to download a copy of the blockchain’s history. This makes it a simple, fast way to store and transact your ada (₳), and secure on the same time as your private keys are encrypted and never shared with Yoroi servers or third party providers. Yoroi available as either a web-based extension or a downloadable app.
Daedalus: Full node wallet, recommended for advanced users.
Daedalus is a full-node desktop wallet developed by IOG (Input Output Global). Daedalus is unique in that it downloads a full copy of the Cardano blockchain and independently validates every transaction in its history. This provides operations without a centrally hosted third-party server.
ADA Lite: Light weight wallet.
ADA Lite is a open-source client-side interface for direct interaction with the Cardano blockchain developed by Vaccuum Labs. In this case, the only recommended access method is with hardware wallet. This is not a browser plugin as in the case of Yoroi, but a website. In this case, if you access with mnemonic or key file, bear in mind that your private key will be transmitted over the Internet, even though encrypted.
